The Museum is open
every day from 10 in the morning till 5 in the evening, excluding the Christmas
day, off course. The entry inside the museum is free so everyone’s welcome. The
is inside the old Bond Store, an 1892 heritage building, designed by leading
architect Frederick de jersey Clere, has been made resembling to the interior
of the ships of the Old days. So if you’ve have never been inside a cruise of a
ship, then you would definitely not want miss this.
One of the main
Highlights of the Museum includes the story of the 1968 Wahine ferry disaster. Caused
by the combined effect of the Cyclone Giselle and the storm driven from the
West Coast of the South Island from Antarctica, and almost swallowed the inter
islander Wahine ferry, crossing the Cook Strait. The ferry was carrying 610
passengers and 123 crew members; leaving an ever lasting impression on New
Zealand history. Other highlights include the 101 stories of 20th century
Wellington life. A favourite with all visitors to the Museum is the Māori myths
and legends show, A
Millennium Ago. Films about early Wellington and tall sailing ships
are shown on a giant screen stretching up three floors.
The total time
required for browsing the exhibitions 2 hours to browse through the
exhibitions, films and shows. I would rate it about 3 on a scale of 5.
Hope you have a good
time at it.
